History:
1947 Thorunn for Tønnevold & Co., Grimstad, chartered to Standard Oil Co.
1957 Collision with another tanker near Maracaibo,Venezuela. Lost one crew and heavyly damaged in explosion. Repaired at Maracaibo, towed to Savannah for further repairs.
1961 St. Christopher
1962 Converted to a bulk carrier at Grand Quevilly, France.
1968 Globe Traveler

As it can be seen from the picture, the old T2 design of the ship was thoroughly modified. Unlike s/s Platte and s/s Columbia, bridgehouse was moved aftship, leaving more space to cargo holds and newly added goalpost derricks.
