A VIEW FROM THE PORT OF MOMBASA

Passenger ship, 1967.

First ship from the right may be Bulgarian flag M/V Varna / LZDX, the one that is behind has been success-
fully recognised by Mr. Jesper Brix as V. N. S. Company's ship. Below is the info Mr. Brix had kindly provided us :

"... that ship is of the Dutch V. N. S. Company - Verenigde Nederlandsche Scheepvaartmaatschappij - in Rotterdam. She is one of nine ships of the " S...kerk " class - all of them having names beginning with the letter " S " fx " Slotekerk ", " Serooskerk " and " Steenkerk ". http://www.arendnet.com/foto's.vns.3.htm and fx http ://shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=392766

Further examination of the picture and the names make us think that the ship on picture was : "Spaarnekerk". Below is a blow-up from above picture.

M/V Spaarnekerk/PHPZ - IMO : 5336260 - 1962 Built - 11982 Dwt.

Lykes Lines ship is second from left.

British troop carrier A -186 at left.
