She was hard aground at Florida costs during hurricane Gordon in November 1994. Sold to private sector Feb. 1995. Broken up at Alang 27.6.97.

M/V Firat ( Euphrates ), M/V Dicle ( Tigris ) and four other sisters, all named after rivers were ordered to Yugoslavian ship builders in late 1960s to renew the ageing fleet of DB Cargo Lines.





An old advertisement of DB Cargo Lines from a daily newspaper. M/V Firat is expected to leave Istanbul for northeastern U.S. on Sept. 5-6, 1973. About two weeks later, M/V Amiral S. Altincan will sail from Iskenderun to the same destination.
