In the radio room of Gumuspala, located at the port side behind the navigation bridge. The initial call sign TCBH-2 seen on the antenna switch would soon be changed to TCCB which would stay until the end of her service life. Below are two messages sent from this radio room many years later in 1992. Every day starting from 20.00 Gmt, all Turkish Cargo Lines ships sent their position messages ( QTH ) to headquarters in Istanbul via company's private coast station TCR. For radio amateurs these were the hours and 8425 Kc/s was the frequency to spot the ships around the world.
