S/S Kades and sister ships S/S Etrusk and S/S Tirhan were built at Rostock Neptun-werft Rostock G.m.b.H. in 1938. They kept their maiden names throughout their service lives. Initially they mostly worked to Black Sea ports. When aged they were given to shorter distances in Marmara Sea. Common characteristics were as follows : 2290 Grt., L = 107 m , B = 14.5 m, D = 5.1 m. Equipped with two triple expansion steam engines, they run at a modest service speed of 10 knots. Etrusk and Tirhan in 1975, Kades in 1977 were sold to breakers.
